Space Strategy Games
Space strategy games
These are some space strategy games that I enjoy.
The first one here is Sins of a Solar Empire. This game is a lot of fun once you learn how to play it. It took me a couple of 1v1 games against the computer on easy to really learn what was going on. There are several tutorials but personally i think the lack of a single player campaign hurt it a little bit. Either they should expand the tutorials or add in a campaign. Although now that I have quite a few matches behind me I increased the difficulty and trying more FFA. In conclusion this game is fantastic and I recommend it to everyone that likes the strategy genre. The community forums at the offical site and gamefaqs.com help new people with strategies that aren’t self evident to the new player. Give it a try
Another game I like is Galactic Civilization II, it’s turned based game for those players who like a slower pace in their games. This game is highly addictive, be careful! There are many ways to play, quite a few map setup options, the ship customization is straightforward yet very flexible, and also the graphics and menus are efficient and sexy. Initial learning curve might be reasonable for some however with even a brief google you can find a straightforward read to help you understand the few not-so-obvious items in the game. After a few run throughs the game play will become second nature. This game should run on most laptops so you can conquer the universe on the road.
Sword of the Stars is another space strategy game I love, it’s turn based too. It happens to be an incredibly well executed angle on space strategy games. It has a incredibly clean and intuitive user interface that enables you to control your empire proficiently, and moves the game forward. While the turn-based part of the game play is not really as detailed or involved as other empire building games, it more than counterbalances for it with the RTS combat portion. The space battles that occur when your fleets run into the opposing forces are reasonably similar of Empire at War, however with more tactical variations that keeps it interesting. The dynamic technological tree keeps each game feeling unique, and with four races to understand, there is a good deal of replay value for the money.
If you enjoy space strategy games like I do these are three of the best.
